Since 2008, we've foraged walnuts around Valcău de Jos, sorted them by hand, and shipped them daily to partners across the country.

How We Started

Two brothers from Valcău de Jos grew up gathering walnuts from the orchards and forests of Sălaj. What started as a childhood habit became, in 2008, a family business: the same hands that once picked out the good walnuts from the empty ones now do it for dozens of partners nationwide.

Today Canuca forages and sorts wild Romanian walnuts, and for partners who need a fuller range, we also source quality kernels from Ukraine, China, Chile, and California. We're still a family company at heart: our office is in Cluj-Napoca, but production stays home, in Sălaj.

How We Work

Five steps, unchanged since the first sack of walnuts back in 2008.

    Foraging

    We gather wild walnuts around Valcău de Jos, timed to the right point of ripeness.

  2. 02

    Sorting

    We sort by hand, kernel by kernel, separating the good from the dry or damaged, rather than just eyeballing full sacks.

  3. 03

    Drying

    We dry each batch to the right moisture level, so flavor holds and storage life stays long.

  4. 04

    Vacuum Packing

    We pack into 10 kg vacuum-sealed bags, keeping everything fresh through transport.

  5. 05

    Delivery

    Orders go out daily, anywhere in the country, straight to our partners: HoReCa, retail, pastry shops, bakeries, confectionery workshops, and wholesale markets.
